Week 76 - Winter time is coming

大家好!

This has been such an awesome week. We truly have seen so many blessings and miracles. Starting the week was a little hard, but as it continued, it just seemed to get better and better with Sunday being the high light of the week!

As to start off the week, Elder Ploeg and I spent most of preparation day at the mission office doing work for the mission choir. To be honest, it really felt like we became office elders for the day, which made me grateful for getting to be a normal missionary. They really have a lot of tedious things that they have to do, but we are all so grateful for the work they they all put in to help the mission run. And having spent the day in the office, all of the choir stuff is now ready and we now have two more practices before the performances begin. The biggest one being the day after Christmas for an organization hosting over 2000 people, all of which are families! So we are really stoked to be able to perform for them and also share the gospel with all of them!

A big part of the week to was that we have officially started teaching English class again! The hard part though is that we are teaching the little children class, which is teaching us a lot of patience to say the last, but it was good. One of the best parts was that we actually found an awesome referral for some of the other missionaries from English class. English class here really is a big tool and has been a hug blessing for finding new investigators and sharing the gospel!

This week, we also had the privilege of being "The Temple Tour Elders!" Everyone knows that in Salt Lake, there are only sisters, but in this mission, we have the Temple Tour Elders as well! We got to work with some of the Temple Tour Sisters on doing tours with a bunch of youth from the southern part of Taiwan and even did a little bit of missionary work with them, which was really fun. My favorite part about it all was actually seeing some of the youth contacting like they were professionals/having done it before. They really are going to make great missionaries when they turn eighteen!

This week, we also did a double exchange with one of the companionship in the zone which was really fun. A double exchange is where we both stay in their area for half a day and then come back at the end of the day. And to say the least it was amazing. In their area in Taipei, the only people that are there are people that live there, so everyone you contact lives in their area, which is something that is very rare for us in our area. We are always sending out a ton of referrals, but to contact everyone and see that everyone lives in their area, it was truly a blessing for their companionship. For my favorite part of the double exchange was actually getting to work with one of the elders and seeing his contacting style. He is a very funny guy and will always try to make the people we talk to smile, which really make contacting a blast. Everyone was just so willing to talk and we were really able to have an amazing afternoon finding!

As for in our area, we also had a ton of finding, but we also had some really cool miracles. The biggest ones are about two of our current investigators.

The 賴家庭 (Lai Family, sent a photo home of them two weeks ago) are doing amazing, they have been two church twice so far, and have love both times, and we are working on helping them towards baptism as well. The biggest miracle about it all was how much the ward is helping as well. They are all so loving and kind to our investigators at church and helping them with any questions that they have. So we really do feel it has been a blessing being able to have such an amazing ward helping care for our investigators!

The second one is a new investigator 林芝羭 (Maggie) who we found Tuesday night and set up another time to meet with her so that we could do a chapel tour. And to our surprise, she brought a friend as well, which was a huge miracle, and they both seem super interested. As we offer a Book of Mormon to them and invited them to baptism, they both accepted and said that they would be willing to start reading the book of Mormon that night. The chapel tour really was such an amazing thing and Elder Ploeg and I have been so grateful (pretty sure I have said this before) for all the effort and work that the Temple Sisters put into the Temple Tours.

As for the week as a whole, it really did seem to fly by though. And because of choir stuff again, my time is pretty much up.  Hope you all have a great week!  Thanks for all the emails and prayers! It really is great to hear from you all!

我愛你們,
Love you,
柯長老

P.S. I think winter is coming... We are both starting to wear sweaters. It got down to 20 degrees C... (~70ish degrees F).
